Swimming Holes In Cape Tribulation

Best Swimming Spots In Cape Tribulation

When travelers find their way to Cape Tribulation many are often a bit upset that you can’t go swimming on the beach but do not worry we happen to have some of the most beautiful and magical fresh water swimming spots!

Masons Swimming Hole

When you enter the township of Cape Tribulation Masons cafe and swimming hole is the first place you will come across.

Not only does it boast amazing food, like their famous tasting platter which consists of crocodile, camel and buffalo burgers but also one of the most relaxing swimming holes. The swimming hole is only a 2 minute walk from the cafe giving you breathtaking views of Mount Sorrow and the surrounding ranges.

With its crystal clear water its the perfect opportunity to jump in and refresh yourself. Even if you don’t want to swim just sitting on the edge of the swimming hole gives you time to take in the natural beauty of the Daintree Rainforest and also the chance to spot some of butterflies as well as the fresh water turtles which call this place home.

It will take you about 10 minutes from Beach House to drive there and about 45 minutes to walk, either along the beach or the road. If you do not have a car and don’t feel like walking you can always take the Cape Tribulation courtesy bus which operates all through the day.

Emmagen Creek

Emmagen creek is the ideal spot for you, your friends and family to really experience Cape Tribulation in all its beauty. This breathtaking creek is located towards the end of Cape Tribulation and is the last spot you can visit before you need a 4WD vehicle.

Although the sealed road ends out side the Beach House the road to Emmagen creek is still easily accessible by 2WD vehicles just take it slow and avoid the potholes. This drive will take you about 20 minutes.

When you arrive at the creek, which is hard to miss as not only is it signposted but the creek runs across the middle of the road. There will be a path to your left hand side through the rain forest which takes you to two different swimming holes.

The first swimming hole has a little stone beach which is perfect for catching some sun and even having a picnic. You can also climb up the side of the creek and enjoy some time throwing yourself into the water which definitely makes a great photo opportunity.

Emmagen Creek – First Swimming Hole

The Second swimming hole is just as amazing as the first! After a short walk you will find yourself standing on top of the vast roots systems of the trees surrounding the creek. The swimming hole is a bit deeper than the first allowing you to make the most out of the rope swing and believe us you will not get bored of it.

When you have made it this far and if you are feeling a bit more adventurous you can even hike up the creek for as long as you wish getting deeper into the heart of the Daintree Rainforest. If you do intend to do this please let someone at your accommodation know and always hike with a buddy.

Emmagen Creek – Second Swimming Hole

If you don’t have a car and still want to go you can always walk along the road. This will take you just over an hour to reach. If you would like a more scenic route and time it correctly you can walk all the way from Cape Tribulation Beach to Emmagen Beach. This is a beautiful walk however it is only possible on very low tides so please ask your accommodation if you can.
